Senior Warehouse Team Leader

The Warehouse Senior Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing warehouse functions, managing and developing a team, and ensuring safe and efficient working practices. The role includes driving continuous improvement, supporting QHSE compliance, coordinating material flow and logistics, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve site performance targets. This position requires proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, strong people management skills, and the ability to deliver productivity and cost improvements.

Key Results Areas

Leadership & People Management

  • Activities:

    • Coach, train, and develop employees, identifying skills gaps and supporting onboarding.

    • Manage performance in line with HR procedures, including appraisals, targets, and disciplinary processes.

    • Foster a positive workplace culture, driving employee engagement and continuous improvement.

  • Results/KPIs:

    • Team skill development and retention.

    • Achievement of individual and team performance targets.

    • High levels of employee engagement and reduced turnover.

Operations & Senior Leadership Tasks

  • Activities:

    • Plan and organise warehouse functions, including manning and saving activities.

    • Supervise material movement and coordinate with third-party providers and internal teams.

    • Ensure timely and accurate communication on delivery dates, quality, and customer commitments.

    • Ensure stock accuracy, working alongside the stock controller ensuring the PI count is completed in an accurate and timely manner.

    • Utilise off cuts.

    • Understand ERP/MRP systems, SAP or similar W/H Management Systems.

  • Results/KPIs:

    • On-time completion of warehouse activities.

    • Delivery deadlines consistently met.

    • Improved productivity and efficiency metrics.

    • Driving development of SAP processes on the shopfloor to improve efficiencies.

QHSE & Compliance

  • Activities:

    • Drive a safety-first culture and ensure safe working practices.

    • Conduct accident/incident investigations and follow up on root cause analysis.

    • Ensure compliance with QHSE policies, procedures, and audits.

  • Results/KPIs:

    • Reduction in accidents/incidents.

    • Compliance with audit requirements.

    • Positive safety culture reflected in feedback and reporting.

Continuous Improvement & Site Performance

  • Activities:

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including material flow, FLT/crane strategy, and transport coordination.

    • Identify and drive cost efficiencies and productivity improvements.

    • Monitor and communicate KPIs while implementing improvement actions.

  • Results/KPIs:

    • Delivery of cost savings and efficiency gains.

    • Achievement of site KPIs (safety, productivity, quality, cost).

    • Documented improvements in processes and performance.

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

  • Activities:

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address operational issues.

    • Manage external contractors via the permit-to-work process.

    • Act as a change champion, promoting initiatives positively and effectively.

  • Results/KPIs:

    • Strong cross-departmental collaboration.

    • Compliance with contractor management standards.

    • Successful adoption of change initiatives.

Experience:

  • IOSH or working towards.
  • O Level equivalent English
  • O Level equivalent Maths
  • LEAN & 5S Techniques and Implementation
  • OEE / Time & Motion Study / Production Automation
  • Critical thinking and Problem solver
  • Team Development and Training
  • SAP knowledge is ideal but not required
